What can the Medieval Siege Society bring to your event?
A Medieval re-enactment can transform a castle, a park, a field, or almost anywhere, into a bustling Medieval community and a historic battlefield. With over 20 years experience staging re-enactment events, the Medieval Siege Society recognise that each event location is very different. Our Events Co-ordinators will work closely with you to design the best event for your venue.
Our Displays – A great day out for all the family
Within our membership there is outstanding knowledge of medieval life and siege warfare. All aspects of late medieval campaign life are covered.
Battle re-enactments
The spectacular centrepiece of the day, battle re-enactments are based on actual historical events and are linked to the venue we perform at where possible. The fighting follows a script which can be tailored by yourselves to suit your location and is controlled discreetly by radios.
We have also been commissioned to recreate specific battles such as Agincourt (1415), Northampton (1460), Edgecote (1469), Barnet (1471) and Bosworth (1485).
The size and complexity of the battle is dictated by the venue, and our Events Co-ordinators will discuss what we can provide.
Our battles usually include:
- Mock Combat as massed men at arms clash with bills, swords, poleaxes and spears.
- Archery – longbows and crossbows.
- Gunnery – completely safe, blank-firing replicas.
- Pyrotechnics – for that extra flash & bang.*
- and of course a Fearsome Medieval Siege!
[*available at extra cost. Please ask our events co-ordinators for details.]
But it’s not just about the battle!
The MSS Living History Encampment is the window into the past where the public observe life as it was over 500 years ago.
MSS members will recreate the sights, sounds & smells of a vanished age of chivalry, combat, and intrigue – to educate, illuminate and entertain visitors of all ages.
These are just some of the displays we can provide. A full client pack is available on request. Please contact events@medieval-siege-society.co.uk for further details.
